How to use it
Paste text, select English or Chinese, choose a voice and press Read aloud. Start with a short paragraph. You can adjust speed before starting; stop first to change text or voice. Stopping resets playback to the beginning.
Does it use website bandwidth?
Your browser downloads the page and its small scripts from Numbrite. Audio is not generated or relayed by Numbrite, so reading longer text does not add audio-transfer bandwidth to our hosting. A remote voice can use the visitor’s internet connection to reach its provider; a local voice is identified using information supplied by the browser.
Why are voices different on each device?
Voices come from your browser or operating system. A device may have only English voices, or its list may load later. Use Reload voices or install the desired language voice in system settings. Mixed-language text and pronunciation vary by voice. A webpage cannot guarantee a particular speaker or voice quality.
Can I download an MP3?
This version plays speech through the browser and does not export an audio file. Audio-file generation would need a different engine or service and a separate review of its hosting, cost and privacy requirements.
If playback does not work
Check device volume, try another voice, and keep this page open. Some mobile systems restrict pause/resume or background playback; stop and start again if needed. Text is split into shorter sections for playback. This is a listening aid, not a replacement for a screen reader.
Use the result with confidence
Preview the voice with a short passage
Choose a language and a voice available on your device, then try one sentence before reading a long passage. Rate changes the speaking speed; the same setting may sound different across browsers and voices. Punctuation helps the speech engine place pauses.
Why the voice list differs
The browser or operating system supplies the voices. A voice installed on one device may not exist on another, and some voices require a network connection. If a language has no suitable voice, check your device’s speech-language installation rather than assuming the page can download a voice for you.
Playback, privacy and export
The page offers playback, not MP3 generation. It does not send the text to Numbrite, but a remote speech voice may send text to its provider. Check the local/online voice label and avoid confidential text when the voice’s handling is uncertain. Leaving the page can stop playback.
