Date Difference Calculator
Find how much time separates two dates — in days, weeks, months and years, plus a calendar breakdown.
How the date difference is measured
The tool subtracts one date from the other to get the total number of days, then expresses that span as weeks, months and a year–month–day breakdown. Enable “include end date” to count both endpoints.
FAQ
Does it count both dates?
By default it counts the gap between them. Tick “include end date” to add one day so both endpoints are counted.

Use the result with confidence
Elapsed days or inclusive days?
Enter both dates. The normal result counts the gap between them; ticking “include end date” adds one, which is useful when both endpoint dates count as occupied days. Dates may be entered in either order: this tool reports an absolute gap, not a signed difference.
Use a leap-year example
From 2024-02-28 to 2024-03-01 there are 2 elapsed days because 29 February exists. With the inclusive option, the result is 3. The calendar breakdown remains the same: the checkbox affects the day and week counts, not the calendar anniversary calculation.
Months, working days and time zones
Complete months use a month-end-clamped anniversary convention: 31 January to 28 February 2025 is one month. Total days use calendar dates and are not shortened by daylight-saving changes. Weekends and public holidays are included; this is not a business-day or payroll calculator.
The example changes this calculator’s fields. It does not save or replace a journal or backup.
